Yoga And Meditation
Yoga often called as the sister science of Ayurveda is an indispensable part of the Ayurvedic healing system. While Ayurveda is the vedic system of healing, Yoga is the vedic system of spiritual practice. Although they are two separate branches, each overlap into the other on various levels. Ayurveda believes in physical, mental and spiritual fitness alike for optimum wellness and Yoga functions as a tool for attaining the same. The different postures or Asanas performed with controlled breathing techniques allow the flow of vital energy through the body. Yoga is more than just physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core to it.
Meditation, known as Dhyana in Sanskrit has been in practice since time immemorial. The great sages of ancient India used to practice meditation as a path towards enlightenment and self-realization. It is a state of ultimate relaxation and happiness where your thoughts get detached from the outside material world. It works well in reducing stress, anxiety, depression, physical and mental pain and often forms a part of Ayurvedic healing system.
